In this group, we strive to learn the machines and infrastructures, to work autonomously, work together and collaborate with people.

The lab works towards new artificial intelligence methods to help our infrastructures and production in being more effective and energy-efficient. We develop algorithms that autonomously learn technical and socio-technical systems’ behaviour and make optimal decisions without help from a human being. Application varies from robotics to water infrastructures and we work with optimisation techniques. The techniques must be safe to operate, and therefore, we work with safety. Also, we learn the system behaviour from data and therefore machine learning is an important part of our research. The data used for machine learning must furthermore be protected against cyberattacks, and therefore, we also work with privacy-preserving.
