Our students have spoken – Ming Shen has been elected teacher of the year at our department.
Ming Shen works with our AI RF-sensors group and he is praised for his passion for teaching and keeping lectures light and fun by using real-life examples to enforce points and drawing from his experience.
”He likes theory with reality by providing real-life examples to the topics he teaches, but he also use case-examples with actual projects where he utilizes the experience he has in Machine Learning,” the nomination said.
The Associate Professor received praise for the use of digital solutions to increase the comprehension of a notoriously difficult machine learning course, but his highest praise is for his willingness to get to know his students.
”He tries to have small talks with his students, and actually know who they are. While students are the ones expected to put in the effort to know their professors, having the professor put in a similar effort can be encouraging and make them more approachable", the nomination said.
The AI RF-sensors group derives RF and microwave hardwares for data acquisition and transmission covering a broad range of emerging applications.
The research topics include: satellite remote sensing, biomedical sensors, UWB sensor and mm-wave radar for localization and navigation, generative design of circuits and systems, fault diagnosis of RF and microwave systems etc.
