Jens Myrup Pedersen is an acknowledged researcher in the field of cyber security. He has demonstrated excellence in research and teaching activities, and the appointment will be of great value to the Department of Electronic Systems and the university.
Jens Myrup Pedersen is happy about the acknowledgement of his work and research:
“I am very happy that years of hard work is recognized, but I think the real advantage is for the future work within cyber security, and I look forward to continue my research activities at AAU”.
Ramping up in the field of cyber security
Aalborg University contributes to top world research and this has been proven by many international rankings where AAU has excelled. Furthermore, AAU is ramping up in the field of cyber security research and in September 2020, the new M.Sc. program in Cyber Security enrolled 36 students.
“We are expanding in the field of cyber security, and this new appointment gives visibility and credibility to our work – both nationally and internationally. I hope this will also give another boost to our new education in Cyber Security”, says Jens Myrup Pedersen
Attracting new talents to AAU
During his career, Jens Myrup Pedersen’s research has been acknowledged in both academia and society and he has taken on leadership in developing the field of cyber security research, while at the same time being active in the Danish cyber security community including board membership of the Council for Digital Security and IDA Connect. This has gained him a strong network among universities, companies and authorities that keeps him updated within the field of hacking and cyber security.. Jens Myrup Pedersen is dedicated to his research, but also puts efforts in building up cyber security communities – activities funded by the Danish Industry Foundation – which contribute to the recruitment of young talents to the university. His expertise fit very well with AAU’s problem based learning approach, given that his teaching combines theory and practice with real world problems.

After completing high School in Viborg, Jens Myrup Pedersen started university studies at Aalborg University.
He completed the M.Sc. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Aalborg University in 2002.
In 2005, he received the PhD degree in Network Planning from Department of Electronic Systems, Aalborg University.
During his PhD, he stayed four months at University College Dublin
After the PhD, he became assistant professor and later associate professor at Department of Electronic Systems at Aalborg University.
During his employment at Aalborg University, Jens Myrup Pedersen has also done teaching at universities in Poland and Latvia, and taken on board memberships in Danish organizations and companies.
